Monday, October 13, 2014 - Stage to Sell!

A good Realtor will counsel their client on staging their home to show well. Most potential buyers form an opinion about a property within one minute of viewing it. Staging a home is done to ensure their first impression is a great one.   That first impression begins to form when a buyer pulls up to the house. Curb appeal will entice customers to want to ask for a showing. Alternatively, an unkept yard and unappealing home exterior may deter buyers from wanting to look inside. When staging, ... Monday, September 29, 2014 - Gobble-Gobble South of the Border

Once in a while, I hear conversations discussing the uniqueness of our Canadian Thanksgiving. Since the United States is probably the only other country to have Thanksgiving-as-we-know-it, I thought it might be fun to take a break from real estate matters and point out the differences between our two nations on this holiday! We all know the similarities between Canada and America in turkey dinners and harvest decorations, but do you know what Black Friday and NFL football mean to Thanksgiving ... Full Article...

Monday, September 1, 2014 - Calgary Market Update

The Calgary Real Estate Board's (CREB) end of July report shows gains in several area market factors compared to the same time period in 2013. Total residential sales had more than 3% gain and finished out with an average price of $482,489 -- an almost 5% increase. These are both positive signs of continued yearly economic and market improvement. The CREB data includes single family homes, condo apartments, and condo townhouses. It is worth mentioning that the Calgary condo townhouses sector ... Full Article...

Monday, August 18, 2014 - An Uncluttered Mind Needs an Uncluttered Home

There is a psychological theory which states that a cluttered home is a sign of a cluttered mind. ?Clutter? is not only defined by the amount of stuff someone possesses. It also indicates a high level of disorganization. You can have a lot of things but no clutter -- as long as those things are kept organized. Likewise, you can have few things but still have a cluttered home because they are disorganized. The state of your home could reflect the state of your mental health. Studies have shown ... Monday, August 4, 2014 - Buying a Home That Needs Some TLC?

Are you looking for a traditional home with character?  Drawn to mature neighbourhoods with tree lined streets?  You may have thought about how far your money would go if you bought a home that needed some updating.  Many home buyers prefer established neighbourhoods, but aren't prepared to purchase a property for its increased cost after the renovations have been completed by someone else.  The best part about taking on the project yourself is that you can modernize the home exactly the way ... Monday, July 21, 2014 - Seeing a Home Online vs. Real Life

Shopping online has become a popular option for consumers. It's simple and convenient and allows you to browse, price compare and make purchases all from the comfort of your own home. Most home buyers are also beginning their property search online. Although you can't actually purchase a home online, you can educate yourself on your options.   The MLS system is a great resource for many reasons. It's a good way to easily find out how far your money will go, and make decisions about the type of ... Full Article...

Tuesday, June 10, 2014 - Marketing Your Property So That Buyers Will Notice

Marketing a property on the real estate market requires a Realtor to reach as many people as possible, in a fairly short amount of time.  The more interest there is in a home, the more likely the home owner will be to get exactly what they are asking.  When I list a home for sale, I make sure to go the extra mile to get my clients the market exposure that they need to make the transaction a success.      Having an online presence in today's real estate market is a must.  Most prospective buyers ... Will you fall in love with the first home you see, or will it take several months to find the right place for you?  Find a new home is a fun experience, but seeing too many properties can become overwhelming and cause buyers to second guess themselves.  When I am working with buyers, I ask lots of questions to get a good understanding of what they are looking for.  There is no need to see homes that won't meet their needs.  So how do you prepare for an efficient buying process?  Figure out your ... Monday, May 12, 2014 - Looking Past The Decor: How To Inspect The Important Elements Of A Home

Many homebuyers are captivated by the cosmetic features of a home.  It's easy to be drawn to the kitchen cupboards, countertops or a well-kept hardwood floor.  Although the cosmetic features of a home are important, there are other some factors that you should keep in mind.  When showing a home to prospective buyers, I like to point out things that I notice that may add value to the home, or may cost them money down the road.  Although this doesn't compare with a professional home inspection, ... My family and I always look forward to the summer because we love being outdoors.  For my husband and I, this is our first year as empty nesters so we are quickly adjusting to our new found freedom.  We didn't waste any time re-purposing the kid's rooms for our own use, and we are now looking forward to a few days off here and there during the summer.   We have a trailer in Sundre that we enjoy for six months out of the year.  We enjoy the convenience of having a getaway that is just a short ...
